Assignments based upon the books helped to improve basic reading, writing and work-related skills in an effort to prepare inmates for post-release life and reduce the risk of recidivism. $700
Jan. 2006 Lintner Genesis Project, Inc. seeks to counteract the increase in illegal and prescription drug abuse in the Titusville area. With the assistance of a grant, the “Zero Tolerance Marketing Campaign” informed, educated and provided treatment referral information to help affected people and families. $1,750
Jan. 2006 Unrestricted The Meadville Area Free Clinic received a grant to pay for one month of prescription vouchers for patients who cannot afford medical insurance, but earn too much to qualify for medical assistance. Patients can then begin treatment without concern for how to afford their medication. $1,000
Jan. 2006 Unrestricted A grant to the Penn Lakes Girl Scout Council, Inc. implemented the “Uniquely Me” program at William Gill Commons to teach girls about positive self-image, stress management and healthy living. With higher self-esteem, participants were more likely to do better in school and less likely to succumb to negative peer pressure. $900

July 2006 Unrestricted/Franklin Big Brothers and Sisters of Crawford County provides adult mentors to improve children’s self-esteem, keep them active in school and away from alcohol and illegal drugs. With assistance from a grant, the organization’s Meadville office was insulated to reduce heating costs. $1,380

July 2006 Unrestricted Through “Project Warm Winter” the Crawford County Mental Health Awareness Program (CHAPS) distributed and installed temporary weatherization products in the homes of low-income people to reduce their heating costs. July 2006 Lintner The Titusville Area Hospital continued to improve the oral health of the community through the work of their Dental Health Services mobile unit. Several dental instruments were purchased with a grant. $2,000
July 2006 Lintner The Titusville Council on the Arts presents high-quality cultural programs to the community. They were able to sell tickets for a concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Brass at reasonable prices with assistance from a grant. $500
July 2006 Lintner The “IMPACT Peer Mentoring Program” of the YWCA of Titusville provides mentors to assist people with mental health concerns between visits to a counselor. Program supplies were purchased using a grant. $1,000
