People and businesses create scholarship funds and dictate criteria for the recipients such as financial need, field of study and/or academic merit. Click here to review selection criteria and applications for scholarships.

Associated Charities of Titusville Scholarship Fund

The Associated Charities of Titusville Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior from Titusville Area High School or Maplewood High School, who plan to enroll in a regionally accredited, nonsectarian, two- or four-year college leading to a degree in Social Work or a related field.

Harry Brown Scholarship Fund

The Harry Brown Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more student(s) who have graduated or are about to graduate from Titusville High School and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited four-year college in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree.

Ross R. and Shirley A. Casella Scholarship Fund

The Ross R. and Shirley A. Casella Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more student(s) who have graduated from Titusville Area School District (Titusville, Pennsylvania), Dover High School (Ohio), New Philadelphia High School (Ohio), or Tuscarawas Central Catholic Elementary School (formerly St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School in Dover, Ohio), and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited four-year college.

Cochranton Business and Professional Women’s Scholarship Fund

The Cochranton Business and Professional Women’s Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more student(s) who are residents of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, who have graduated or are about to graduate from Cochranton High School and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited four-year college in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree.

Cochranton Chapter of the National Honor Society Scholarship Fund

The Cochranton Chapter of the National Honor Society Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior from Cochranton High School who will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited college in a program leading to an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.

Cochranton High School Class of ’55 Scholarship Fund

The Cochranton High School Class of ’55 Scholarship Fund was established by members of the first class to attend Cochranton High School on the occasion of their 50th graduation anniversary. The scholarship is presented annually to an outstanding Cochranton High School graduating senior who has excelled in a specific field such as academics, the arts, athletics, community service or music. Applicants must be a resident of Crawford County, Pennsylvania enrolling in an accredited two- or four-year college.

Crawford County Tavern Association Scholarship Fund

The Crawford County Tavern Association Scholarship is presented annually to a student who is about to graduate from the Crawford County Career and Technical Center and is matriculating or enrolling in an accredited trade/technical school, two-year community college or four-year college/university in a program leading to a degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.

Ronald J. Cummings Scholarship

The Ronald J. Cummings Scholarship was established as a memorial for Ronald Cummings, a former owner of Canto Tool Corporation of Meadville. The scholarship supports the education of students who plan to pursue certificates or degrees in fields such as mechanical, electrical, technical and precision engineering, machining and CNC programming, mechatronics, or robotics.

Clara H. and Robert M. Davidson Scholarship Fund

The Clara H. and Robert M. Davidson Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more student(s) who have graduated or are about to graduate from Titusville High School and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited four-year college in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree.

Kenneth and Margaret Deane Scholarship Fund

Established in 2012, the Kenneth and Margaret Deane Scholarship is named in honor of the founders of NuTec Tooling Systems, Inc. of Meadville. The purpose is to promote careers in fields that are essential to the tool, die and manufacturing industry, such as mechanical, electrical, technical and precision engineering, machining and CNC programming, mechatronics, robotics and other related fields. Recipients are selected through an application process administered by the NTMA Education Foundation.

R. Budd Dwyer Scholarship Fund

The R. Budd Dwyer Scholarship Committee established the fund in 1987 as a memorial to the life and work of R. Budd Dwyer and worked diligently in the ensuing decades to raise money and provide annual awards. The R. Budd Dwyer Scholarship is presented annually to a student who has graduated from high school and is a resident of the Blooming Valley Borough, Crawford County, and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited trade/technical school, two-year/community college, or four-year college in a program leading to a certificate, associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree.

Edminster Science Scholarship Fund

The Edminster Science Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior from Cambridge Springs High School or Maplewood High School, who plan to enroll in a regionally accredited, nonsectarian, two- or four-year college leading to a degree in Sciences.

Ruby Marsh Eldred Scholarship Fund

The Ruby Marsh Eldred Scholarships are presented annually to students who have been residents of the central or western sections of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, for at least one year, who plan to enroll in a regionally accredited four-year college or accredited two-year junior or community college, and who rank in the top quarter of his or her secondary school graduation class. The scholarship is granted with the expectation that it may be awarded four times over a period not to exceed five consecutive years. Renewal is based on continued financial need and the total college record.

Gill Family Scholarship Fund

The Gill Family Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior from Cochranton Junior Senior High School who is matriculating or enrolling in an accredited trade/technical school, two-year community college or four-year college/university.

Greenleaf Scholarship Program

The Greenleaf Scholarship Program presents annual scholarships to an employee(s) or dependent(s) of an employee of Greenleaf Corporation.

Orville and Louise Huber Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Orville and Louise Huber Memorial Scholarship is presented annually to a member of Littles Corners United Methodist Church who will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited trade/technical school, two-year/community college, or four-year college/university in a program leading to a certificate, associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Elias W. and Mae Hasbrouck Hummer Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Elias W. and Mae Hasbrouck Hummer Memorial Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more student(s) who have graduated or are about to graduate from Titusville High School and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited four-year college in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree. Preference is given to those affiliated with Bethel United Methodist Church, Titusville.

Evelyn and Chalmer Jordan Scholarship Fund

The Evelyn and Chalmer Jordan Scholarships are presented annually to select graduating seniors residing within a two-mile radius of Saegertown Borough or attending Saegertown Junior Senior High School who will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited college/university.

Friend and Bernice Kerr Scholarship Fund

The Friend and Bernice Kerr Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more student(s) who have graduated or are about to graduate from Titusville High School and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited four-year college in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree.

Cpl. Timothy J. Lauer Scholarship Fund

Cpl. Timothy J. Lauer

The Cpl. Timothy J. Lauer Scholarship was established in 2007 as a memorial. Cpl. Lauer, was killed in Baghdad, Iraq on October 14, 2006 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was twenty-five years old. Lauer served with Company C, 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Hood, Texas. Commendations, awarded posthumously, included the Bronze Star and Purple Heart and a promotion to the rank of Corporal. He graduated from Cochranton Junior Senior High School in 2000.

The scholarship is presented annually to a student who is about to graduate from Cochranton Junior-Senior High School, has completed coursework at the Crawford County Career and Technical Center and is matriculating or enrolling in an accredited trade/technical school, two-year community college or four-year college/university.

Angie Tartaglione Lewis and Paul Lewis Scholarship Fund

The Angie Tartaglione Lewis and Paul Lewis Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior from Cochranton Junior Senior High School or Meadville Area Senior High School who is matriculating or enrolling in an accredited four-year college/university in a program leading to a degree in music.

James E. Lewis Biology Scholarship

The James E. Lewis Biology Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior from Cochranton Junior Senior High School, who plan to enroll in a regionally accredited, nonsectarian, two- or four-year college leading to a degree in Biology or a related field.

Kenneth Lindberg Family Scholarship Fund

Established in 2008, the Kenneth Lindberg Family Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior from Meadville Area High School who is matriculating or enrolling in an accredited trade/technical school, two-year/community college, or four-year college/university in a program leading to a certificate, associate’s or bachelor’s degree.

Janet and Blair McCurdy Scholarship Fund

Established in 2015, the Janet and Blair McCurdy Scholarship provides a scholarship annually to students who are about to graduate from Cochranton Junior Senior High School, Meadville Area Senior High School and/or Maplewood High School in Crawford County, Pennsylvania and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited two-year/community college, or four-year college/university in a program leading to a certificate, associate’s or bachelor’s degree.

Meadville Medical Center Medical Staff Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Meadville Medical Center Medical Staff Memorial Scholarship is presented annually to a resident of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, who is matriculating or enrolled in an accredited medical, dental, osteopathic or podiatric school in a program leading to a degree of doctor of medicine, dentistry, osteopathy or podiatry.

Mark E. Mengel Scholarship Fund

Mark E. Mengel

The Mengel family established the Mark E. Mengel Scholarship Fund as a memorial in 2004. Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more graduating seniors from Meadville Area High School who achieve the highest GPA and the highest score on a standardized computer science test. Students must be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited four-year college in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree.

F. Gregg Ney Scholarship Fund

The F. Gregg Ney Scholarship was established in 1999 by Cochranton Health Services, Inc. to honor the dedicated service of Dr. F. Gregg Ney to the residents of Cochranton. It is presented annually to a graduating senior from Cochranton Junior Senior High School who is matriculating or enrolling in an accredited trade/technical school, two-year community college or four-year college/university in a health services field of study.

Sharp and Mary Proper Scholarship Fund

The Sharp and Mary Proper Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more student(s) who have graduated or are about to graduate from Titusville High School and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited four-year college in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree.

Lucille Runkel Nursing Scholarship Fund

The Lucille Runkel Nursing Scholarship is presented annually to a resident of Crawford County, Pennsylvania or Mercer County, Pennsylvania who wishes to become a Registered Nurse and are matriculating or enrolling in an accredited two-year community college or four-year college/university in a program leading to an associate degree in nursing or bachelor of science in nursing. Mary Lucille (Lucille) Runkel was born in Grove City, Pennsylvania. After working to earn money for tuition, she went to nursing school in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She spent more than fifty years working as a Registered Nurse in Greenville, Meadville, Kittaning, Mercer and Cochranton, Pennsylvania as well as at the Polk State School. Lucille also raised three children—all while working the night shift. She loved caring for people and devising creative ways to help them recover. She was curious, gentle, friendly, ambitious and determined.

Mark Jeffrey Sampson

Mark Jeffrey Sampson Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Mark Jeffrey Sampson Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in memory of Mark Jeffrey Sampson by his family, friends and community in 2010. Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more graduating seniors from Titusville High School who will be matriculating or enrolling in any post-secondary education program leading to a certificate, associate’s or bachelor’s degree.

Hetty Sherwin Scofield Scholarship Fund

The Hetty Sherwin Scofield Scholarships are presented annually to select graduating seniors who are residents of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, who plan to enroll in a regionally accredited, nonsectarian, two- or four-year college, and who rank in the top quarter of his or her secondary school graduation class.

Paul D. and Caroline S. Shafer Family Scholarship Fund

Paul & Caroline Shafer

The Paul D. and Caroline S. Shafer Family Scholarship is presented annually to a select student who is matriculated or enrolled in an accredited theological school, divinity school, seminary or equivalent in a program leading to a master’s or doctoral degree. Preference is given to residents of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. The recipient may also be a graduate of a high school located in Crawford County, Pennsylvania or the child of a resident of Crawford County, Pennsylvania.

Gary M. Slezak Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 2001, the Gary M. Slezak Memorial Scholarship is named in memory of Gary M. Slezak. The purpose is to promote careers in fields that are essential to the tool, die and manufacturing industry, such as mechanical, electrical, technical and precision engineering, machining and CNC programming, mechatronics, robotics and other related fields. Recipients are selected through an application process administered by the NTMA Education Foundation.

BJ Smith Scholarship Fund

The Franklin Section of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) established the BJ Smith Scholarship Fund in 2020 with a bequest from the estate of Burnell (BJ) Smith of Meadville. BJ was a long-time member of the ASHE and received their National Man of the Year Award in 1989. The scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who are pursuing a degree in civil engineering or transportation/highway fields.

Melanie Ann Snyder Scholarship Fund

The Melanie Ann Snyder Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more student(s) who have graduated or are about to graduate from Titusville High School and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited four-year college in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree.

Spencer Family Scholarship Fund

The Spencer Family Scholarship Fund provides a scholarship annually to one or more student(s) from a high school in Conneaut, Crawford Central, or Penncrest School District, and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited two-year/community college, or four-year college/university in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree with a major in the field of Education.

Sperry Ag Scholarship

The Sperry Ag  Scholarship(s) are presented annually to one or more student(s) are about to graduate from Conneaut Area Senior High School and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited trade/technical school, two-year/community college, or four-year college in a program leading to a certificate, associate’s or bachelor’s degree with a major in the field of Agriculture or related field.

Ted Stake Memorial Scholarship Fund

Ted Stake

The Ted Stake Memorial Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior from a high school in Crawford Central School District who is enrolling in a program leading to a degree in library science or education.

Cecil Stevenson Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2019, the Cecil Stevenson Memorial Scholarship is named in memory Cecil Stevenson. The purpose is to promote careers in fields that are essential to the tool, die and manufacturing industry, such as mechanical, electrical, technical and precision engineering, machining and CNC programming, mechatronics, robotics, welding and other related fields. Recipients are selected through an application process administered by the NTMA Education Foundation.

Thomas M. Watson Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Thomas M. Watson Memorial Scholarship is presented annually to a student who is a resident of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, who is matriculating or enrolled in an accredited medical, dental, osteopathic or podiatric school in a program leading to a degree of doctor of medicine, dentistry, osteopathy or podiatry.

Evelyn M. Wood Scholarship Fund

Evelyn M. Wood

The Evelyn M. Wood Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior from a high school in Conneaut, Crawford Central, or Penncrest School Districts who is enrolling in a program leading to a degree in Business.

Harold and Genevieve Zemlansky Scholarship

The Harold and Genevieve Zemlansky Scholarship is awarded annually Cussewago Township resident students who have or will graduate from Saegertown High School or Cambridge Springs High School and will be matriculating or enrolling in an accredited trade/technical school, two-year/community college, or four-year college/university in a program leading to a certificate, associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
