Fund Benefits Saegertown Organizations
December 13, 2011
A $10,000 bequest from the estate of Dr. Mary Beth Hagamen of Saegertown, has been used to establish a charitable endowment with the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation. Each and every year, forever, the Mary Beth Hagamen Fund will pay a percentage of its value to the Saegertown Area Library Association and Saegertown Heritage Society.
“Dr. Hagamen was an early supporter of the community foundation. She was one of the first people to include a charitable gift to us as a provision in her will. We hope others will follow her example by planning gifts with a portion of their estates. Mary Beth had a lifelong love of history, reading and her hometown. It comes as no surprise that her generous gift will address all of those things,” says Christian Maher, Executive Director.
The Foundation manages more than 100 funds, which benefit more than 100 different organizations, scholarships and charitable purposes. Bequests can be added to one or more of those existing funds or used to create a new fund. People who have planned gifts are encouraged to notify the Foundation of their intentions. They may join the Foundation’s Bequest Society in appreciation for their philanthropy. |
