Fund Honors Dr. David D. Kirkpatrick, Jr.

Friends and family of Dr. David D. Kirkpatrick, Jr. have given to honor his memory by establishing an endowment with the Crawford Heritage Community
Foundation. The endowment will provide financial support—each and every year, forever—to the Meadville Area Free Clinic. Dr. Kirkpatrick helped to establish the Free Clinic and served as its first medical director until 2008.

“David was one of the best among us. He was a kind and generous man who used his gifts to make our community a better place. He took action when he
saw people who worked hard, but couldn’t afford health insurance. He worked tirelessly to establish and staff the Meadville Area Free Clinic to make sure everyone received the care they needed. He will be missed, but his impact will be felt for years to come,” said Christian Maher, Executive Director of the Foundation.

Dr. Kirkpatrick started his practice in internal medicine in Meadville in 1954 and retired from private practice in 1993. He was honored with the Raymond P. Shafer Award for Distinguished Community Service in 1998.
