Tamarack Wildlife Center and 4-H Create Endowments

The Crawford County Dairy 4-H and the Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center have established funds with the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation. An endowed fund provides a permanent source of financial support. The fund is invested and each year a percentage of its value is paid out as a grant. As the endowment grows, more money is available to support the organization’s mission.

4-H is a national youth organization that prepares young people to step up to the challenges in their community and the world. The Crawford County Dairy 4-H provides youth an opportunity to increase their knowledge in dairy, while teaching life-skills such as decision-making, public speaking, and leadership. Youth can learn through experience, preparing, designing and evaluating their projects.

The Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center specializes in the rescue, treatment and release of injured, orphaned and sick wildlife. Additionally, Tamarack provides public education programs and materials on the behavior, feeding habits, and natural habitats of many of Pennsylvania’s species of wildlife. The Suzanne B. DeArment Endowment Fund for Wildlife honors the center’s recently retired Executive Director for decades of devotion to the care of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife in Northwestern Pennsylvania.
