The Crawford Heritage Community Foundation has grown to more than $10 million in assets under management. They now manage 102 permanently endowed funds from which they have distributed $2.9 million in grants since 1998. Those funds benefit more than 100 different organizations, scholarships and charitable purposes.
The foundation has logged a record amount of charitable gifts in 2010. A rebound in the performance of investments is also partially responsible for the growth.
“To reach this size in twelve years is remarkable, especially considering the economic problems of the past few years. We are grateful to the many people whose generosity has helped us. Because of them we are maturing from a grassroots effort into a community institution. Most importantly, as more is entrusted to us, we’re able to give more to improve Crawford County,” says Christian Maher, Executive Director.
Three new endowments have been established by non-profit organizations to provide permanent support for their causes.
The French Creek Recreational Trails Endowment Fund was begun with a gift from the estate of Tom McNally. It supports maintenance of the Ernst Trail which is used by walkers, runners, bicyclists and rollerbladers.
The generosity of members and friends of Cochranton Presbyterian Church established an endowment to support the church’s religious, educational and charitable activities.
The Blooming Valley Cemetery Association Endowment Fund was created to provide for maintenance and upkeep of cemetery properties.
