Greenleaf Scholarship Program

The Greenleaf Scholarship Program presents annual scholarships to dependent(s) of an employee of Greenleaf Corporation. Read the scholarship information and eligibility criteria below before completing the application.

DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Greenleaf Scholarship Program is to enable promising and deserving recipients to obtain an education for their personal benefit. The Crawford Heritage Community Foundation administers the program and awards scholarships. There are three types of scholarships available. Scholarship descriptions, eligibility and maintenance requirements, and administrative and selection procedures are listed below:

WALTER J. GREENLEAF SCHOLARSHIP
● A four-year college scholarship of $5,000 per year (maximum $20,000) for pursuing an undergraduate degree in the sciences. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing degrees in: mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, metallurgy, materials science, or chemical engineering.

● The scholarship is for four years of undergraduate study or until completion of the degree program, whichever occurs first. The scholarship award may be terminated at any time if the recipient does not meet the maintenance requirements.

● One 4-year scholarship may be awarded each year.

GREENLEAF SCHOLARSHIPS
● Up to four, 4-year college scholarships, which may differ in amount, as follows:
o $3,000 per year (maximum $12,000) for those pursuing undergraduate degrees in the sciences.
o $2,500 per year (maximum $10,000) for those pursuing undergraduate degrees other than the sciences.

● In the event there are not enough applicants who meet the grade point average and SAT or ACT score eligibility requirements for the $3,000/year or $2,500/year scholarships, the Greenleaf Scholarship Committee may award, in its sole discretion, $1,500 per year (maximum $6,000) scholarships to applicants who meet the grade point average and SAT or ACT score eligibility for the $1,500/year scholarships.

● Greenleaf Scholarships are for four years of undergraduate study or until completion of the degree program, whichever comes first. The scholarship award may be terminated at any time if the recipient does not meet the maintenance requirements.

● Four, 4-year scholarships may be awarded each year. In no event will the total number of $3,000, $2,500, and $1,500 four-year scholarships awarded in any year exceed four.

GREENLEAF ASSOCIATE SCHOLARSHIPS
● In the event there are not enough eligible applicants for the Greenleaf Scholarships, the Greenleaf Scholarship Committee may, in its sole discretion, award Greenleaf Associate Scholarships in place of the Greenleaf Scholarships that are not awarded. Associate Scholarships are 2-year scholarships of $1,000 per year (maximum $2,000) for pursuing an associate’s degree, certificate or equivalent in a business or trade-related course of study at an accredited or reputable college, school, or institute.

● Associate Scholarships are for 2 years of undergraduate study or until completion of the degree program, whichever comes first.

● No more than four Associate Scholarships may be outstanding at any time.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for an award under the Greenleaf Scholarship Program, applicants must:
● Be a dependent child of an employee of Greenleaf Corporation who must have been a regular, full-time employee for at least 90 days before the date of the application. Children of deceased employees who were regular, full-time employees for at least 90 days before the date of death and at the date of death are also eligible.
● Be a graduating high school senior.
● Be accepted and enrolled in an undergraduate degree program as full-time degree candidates at an accredited college or university in the United States for the Walter J. Greenleaf or the Greenleaf Scholarships.
● Be accepted and enrolled in an undergraduate degree or certificate program as full-time degree or certificate candidates at an accredited or reputable college, school, or institute in the United States for Greenleaf Associate Scholarships.
● Have a minimum high school cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 system for the Walter J. Greenleaf Scholarship.
● Have a minimum high school cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 system for the $3,000 and $2,500 Greenleaf Scholarships.
● Have a minimum high school cumulative grade point average of 2.1 on a 4.0 system for the $1,500 Greenleaf Scholarships.
● Have a minimum combined score of 1250 on the SAT or ACT composite score of 26 for the Walter J. Greenleaf Scholarship.
● Have a minimum combined score of 1000 on the SAT or ACT composite score of 19 for the $3,000 and $2,500 Greenleaf Scholarships.
● Have a minimum combined score of 800 on the SAT or ACT composite score of 14 for the $1,500 Greenleaf Scholarships.
● Exhibit good moral character and citizenship.

MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS
In order to maintain a scholarship award recipients must:
● Maintain status as a dependent child of a current full-time employee of Greenleaf Corporation as of June 30th of the current year or be the child of a deceased employee.
● Maintain good academic and disciplinary standing and make normal progress toward a degree.
● Maintain a year-end cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 for the Walter J. Greenleaf Scholarship and at least 2.5 for the Greenleaf Scholarships and Greenleaf Associate Scholarships on a 4.0 system.
● Submit copies of his/her official college transcript to the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation, Greenleaf Scholarship Committee, PO Box 933, Meadville, PA 16335-0933 immediately following the end of the school year, but no later than June 30th of the current year.
● Continue as a full-time undergraduate degree candidate.
● Continue to exhibit good moral character and citizenship.
● Recipients of Walter J. Greenleaf Scholarships and $3,000 level Greenleaf Scholarships who change their major from the sciences to another course of study will have their awards reduced to the $2,500 Greenleaf Scholarship level provided they meet the maintenance requirements for the Greenleaf Scholarship.

ADMINISTRATION
● Payments will be made directly to the college, university, school, or institute.
● Recipients must notify the Greenleaf Scholarship Committee immediately in writing if they decide not to use the award, transfer to another college, university, school, or institute; change degree program; reduce course load below full-time status; or drop out of school for any reason. Any tuition refunds must be returned to the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation.
● Scholarships may be terminated at any time if the recipient no longer meets the eligibility or maintenance requirements (including grade point average and being a dependent), is convicted of any crime other than minor traffic violations, or engages in any other conduct which, in the sole opinion of the Greenleaf Scholarship Committee exhibits poor moral character or poor citizenship.
● Portions of awarded Greenleaf Scholarships which are not used due to termination or other causes may be awarded to eligible applicants who have achieved a grade level equivalent to that achieved by the prior recipient of the award.
● The high school of the recipient of the Walter J. Greenleaf Scholarship award will receive a one-time grant of $500 to be used to advance the teaching of the basic sciences. The recipient will select a teacher at his/her high school who will designate how the grant will be spent by the school.

SELECTION
Scholarships will be awarded by the Greenleaf Scholarship Committee as follows:
● The Greenleaf Scholarship Committee will be appointed by the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation and will consist solely of unbiased individuals who are not employed by Greenleaf Corporation or any of their affiliates.
● Eligible students must submit the Greenleaf Scholarship Application to the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation no later than March 15. Applicants must request certified transcripts of high school grades and test scores from their high school to be sent directly to the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation. If the application is for an unused portion of an awarded scholarship, certified transcripts of college, university, school, or institute grades are all that are necessary.
● Applications, grades, scores, and other information will be reviewed by the Greenleaf Scholarship Committee and the Committee, in its sole discretion, will select the scholarship recipients based on merit.

APPLICATION
Complete the on-line application form. Applications will be accepted through 5:00 PM on March 15. Supporting documents must be postmarked or delivered to the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation, PO Box 933, Meadville, PA 16335-0933, no later than March 15.
