Sperry Scholarship to Promote Agriculture Careers

A new scholarship will help to support the education of young people seeking careers in agriculture. The Sperry Ag Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior from Conneaut Area Senior High School who is pursuing a degree in agriculture or a related field. The scholarship was established with the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation by the Jody and John Sperry family of Atlantic.

“The backbone of Crawford County has always been agriculture. It is essential that we encourage young people to pursue careers that will lead them back to our region’s farms. Through them we will ensure that this industry will continue to thrive,” says Christian Maher, executive director of the community foundation. “The fund is permanently invested to provide the money for the scholarship, each and every year, forever. We expect to award approximately $800 scholarship from the fund in its first year.”
